John J. Doherty is currently the head of Teaching Learning and Research Services at Northern Arizona University’s Cline Library. Dr. Doherty leads a team providing high quality and innovative research and information services to the NAU campus and online communities of students, faculty and staff. His team is also currently designing an information literacy tutorial for inclusion in a new General Studies program and exploring access to affordable learning materials. Doherty formerly built and led a team of instructional designers for NAU’s e-Learning Center, where he also led the implementation of the Quality Matters course design template at NAU and introduced the ACUE Effective Online Teaching certification for faculty. Doherty was a co-recipient of the Online Learning Consortium’s Effective Practice award for 2015. As an author, Doherty has focused on online learning pedagogies and practices and their impact on instructional design.
