Alexa Schmidt is a global citizen who acts locally, wherever she is, with boldness and kindness. She joined Global Brigades as a Program Associate in Honduras in 2014, and with a capacity for team encouragement and leadership she later took on the Program Associate Manager role. She lived in Central America until 2016, and now serves as the stateside Director of Marketing. In this role, Alexa acts as Global Brigades’ central storyteller and ensures all internal and external stakeholders are well-informed. Her drive to tell Global Brigades’ stories stems from the joy that comes from celebrating programmatic accomplishments with community members, staff, and volunteers.
Alexa received a B.A in Communications and a minor in Multimedia from California Lutheran University. Prior to her work with Global Brigades, she dedicated time to volunteer with non-profit organizations in Kenya, the Dominican Republic, and along the West Coast of the USA. In addition to her work with Global Brigades, Alexa is a yoga instructor and advocate for a holistic approach to health and wellness.
