Our international Kambia programs are made possible by inspiring and dedicated faculty members that lead their students abroad to make an impact. It takes a special leader to put in the time and effort to organize their students, plan the trip and travel abroad themselves, and we are so grateful to each faculty that makes this work possible.
On returning from a recent trip to Panama, Cari Borisuk, Lecturer and Director at the Community and Business Engagement Institute at Coastal Carolina University, shared her experience guiding an International Kambia Business Program:
The Kambia team was phenomenal from start to finish. Together with a faculty colleague of mine, we traveled with 15 business students as part of a consulting practicum housed in our college of business. The students found their interaction with community members and business owners to be impactful and for some, transformational. Our housing facility, Hotel Avicar, planned thoughtful meals for the group and was very accommodating. The local clients were welcoming, engaged, and eager to implement some of the students’ findings. I have no doubt we’ll participate in additional programs in the future.

During their one-week trip, Professor Borisuk and her team of business students worked directly with the community of Rio Venado and Ipeti Guna to provide Financial Empowerment. We are grateful for the impact that their trip had and hope to see Professor Borisuk and her students again soon!
